With them, the total number of dengue cases rose to 26,633 this year. A total of 2,978 were diagnosed during the running month. Of the total infected this year, 4,068 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 5,458 were diagnosed in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May. The rest are from January to April, according to DGHS.

According to the DGHS, 98 people have died of dengue fever in the country this year -- all in July, August, September, October and November.

Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August, 23 in September, 22 in October and seven in November so far.

Among them, 90 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 493 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 118 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
