Anti-mosquito drive: DNCC fines Concord IK Tower, HSBC branch and others Tk 5.3 lakh

Mobile courts of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today handed out fines of Tk 5.3 lakh to different people, including authorities of Concord IK Tower and HSBC bank, after finding Aedes mosquito larvae at their establishments.

"Our mobile courts fined Concord IK Tower Tk 4 lakh and HSBC Bank at Gulshan Tk 50,00 after finding Aedes mosquito larvae," said DNCC mayor Md Atiqul Islam while observing DNCC's combing operation at Gulshan Nagar Bhaban.

He said they will impose a fine against anybody if they find Aedes larva in any buildings of private, government or autonomous organisations and take legal action if necessary.

Urging people to come forward to clean their houses every Saturday, the mayor said cleaning activities will have to be sped up to control Aedes mosquitoes and everyone will have to take part in cleaning their own houses.

He said everyone will have to be careful so that water cannot remain stagnant for more than three days in pots, flower tubs, rooftops, or any other containers.
