Dengue cases cross 12,000 mark, 275 hospitalised in a day

At least 275 patients were hospitalized with dengue fever in 24 hours till 8:00 am today.
With the new cases, this year the number of dengue cases have now crossed the 12,000 mark.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) among the 275 dengue cases, only 55 are from outside Dhaka.
With the new cases, a total of 1,735 were diagnosed during this month of the total 12,091 infected this year. And of all of the infected, 1,091 are from outside Dhaka.
At total of 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May, according to the DGHS.
According to the DGHS, 52 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year, all of them between July, August and September.
Twelve people died in July, while 34 have died in August and six in September so far.
Among the deaths, 48 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram, one each in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1,233 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 159 outside the capital, the DGHS data showed.
