Dengue fever: 2 die, 50 hospitalised in 24 hours

Among the new cases, 32 are from outside Dhaka.

With the new cases, the total number of dengue rose to 28,177 while a total of 955 were diagnosed during the running month. Of the total infected, 4,657 are from outside Dhaka.

At least 3,567 dengue patients were diagnosed in November, 5458 in October, 7841 were diagnosed in September, 7698 were diagnosed in August, 2286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and rest are from January to April, according to the DGHS.

According to the DGHS, 103 people died of dengue infection in the country this year. All died in July, August, September, October, November and December.

Twelve people died in July while 34 died in August and 23 in September, 22 in October, seven in November and five in December.

Among the deaths, 93 have died in Dhaka division, four in Mymensingh, two each in Chattogram division and Khulna and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal division.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalized have so far been released, 155 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 54 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
