At least 334 dengue patients were hospitalised during the 24 hours till this morning, showing an alarming trend this year.

With the new cases, the total number of dengue cases this year rose to 5,564, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

Some 1,238 dengue patients are still undergoing treatment.

A total of 4,290 dengue patients were released from hospitals so far this year while total number of deaths is 36.

Total number of deaths in dengue was 281 last year while the total number of cases was 62,382, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Experts urged authorities concerned to conduct extensive drives to identify clusters of Aedes mosquitoes as soon as possible.
