Dengue outbreak: Infections in 2021 cross 1,000 mark, 63 hospitalised in 24 hours

The number of people being diagnosed with dengue fever across the country this year crossed the 1,000 mark with at least 63 more being admitted to hospitals in the 24 hours till 8:00am today.  

The number of people being diagnosed with dengue fever across the country this year crossed the 1,000 mark with at least 63 more being admitted to hospitals in the 24 hours till 8:00am today.  

A total 1,058 patients have been diagnosed with dengue so far this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Of the total infected, only 36 are from outside Dhaka. Around half of the total infected, 686, were diagnosed in July alone, which indicates a rapid rise in transmission.

The number of infected was 272 in June and 43 in May. 

Of the infected, 318 are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and one outside the capital, while the rest have been released from hospitals, the DGHS data shows.
