Three more deaths were reported from dengue in the 24 hours leading up to yesterday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 150 this year.

Three more deaths were reported from dengue in the 24 hours leading up to yesterday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 150 this year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), two of the new deaths were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, while one was recorded in Dhaka South City Corporation.

During this period, 685 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, bringing the total number of cases to 37,891 so far this year.

According to DGHS, 702 patients are currently receiving treatment in Dhaka, while a total of 1,715 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country.

The report also said that 60.7 percent of the patients were men, while 39.3 percent were women.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people. The DGHS recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries during the same period.
