At least four dengue patients died and 845 others were hospitalised -- the highest number of cases in a single day -- in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the deaths, two were reported from Dhaka North City Corporation and two from Dhaka South City Corporation areas.
With the latest figures, the total number of dengue deaths this year has risen to 192, while total cases reaching 46,051.
Of them, 43,629 patients have been discharged after recovery.
Intermittent rain and a lack of mosquito control drives are major factors behind the sharp rise in dengue cases, said Prof Tahmina Shirin, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research.
