Health minister visits CMSD, slams mismanagement

Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen visited the Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) at Tejgaon in Dhaka this afternoon.

During the visit at CMSD, the health minister expressed anger over seeing various healthcare products, including medicines, lying on the ground in the CMSD.

He directed the CMSD authorities to submit a report within seven days on how much and why emergency medicines are kept in such manner.

The health minister visited CMSD around 2:00pm today. For about 35 minutes, he visited the entire central pharmacy and asked the CMSD officials present there about various issues.

The health minister saw hundreds of cartons filled with various emergency healthcare items lying on the ground at CMSD and found various irregularities there.

Meanwhile, CMSD officials could not answer most of the questions the minister asked.

The minister has instructed to provide a written report within the next seven days. This report should include a comprehensive list of all items stored, specifying delivery dates for received goods and anticipated future delivery dates.

Additionally, he demanded explanations regarding the extent of damage to a significant quantity of goods.

At that time,   Md Jahangir Alam,Health Secretary, and Directorate General of Health Services director general ABM Khurshid Alam were present.
