Improve service at hospital
A public hearing was organised at the 250-bed Chattogram General Hospital in the port city yesterday, allowing service recipients to raise questions regarding irregularities and quality of service before the authorities.
SANAC-TIB Chattogram City, a social organisation against corruption, organised the public hearing with the slogan "We want transparency and accountability in the healthcare sector".
The problems raised by the service recipients included non-availability of round-the-clock water supply, lack of rest rooms for the attendants of ICU patients, absence of duty doctors in the afternoon and night, lack of dengue preventive measures for attendants, and lack of pharmacy in the hospital.
Authorities of the hospital promised to take necessary steps to improve the quality of service and curb irregularities.
Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, superintendent of CGH, presided over the hearing while member of SANAC-TIB Chattogram city, Prof Sanjay Biswas, gave the welcome speech.
