Opposition leader Raushan Ershad hospitalised with respiratory issues
Opposition leader Raushan Ershad was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka due to respiratory problems and increased levels of carbon dioxide in her lungs.
Raushan went to Dhaka CMH yesterday for a regular health check-up where she was diagnosed with increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the lungs. She was admitted to the ICU the same day, Md Mamun Hasan, Assistant Private Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition, told The Daily Star, today.
Raushan Ershad, 78, elected MP from Mymensingh-4 (Mymensingh Sadar) has been suffering from respiratory problems for the past several months, Mamun added.
In separate statements, Raushan's son Rahgir Almahe Ershad and Deputy Leader of the Opposition GM Quader requested country's people to pray for Raushan's recovery.
The widow of former Bangladesh president HM Ershad and mother of a son and a daughter, is also the chief patron of Jatiya Party, the main opposition party in parliament.
