In-person academic activities will resume at medical institutions September 13
In-person academic activities will resume at all medical educational institutions from September 13, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said today.
The academic activities of first, second, and fifth-year students (interns) will start from that date and the rest will also resume soon, he added.
"Medical education is such an education that students need to go to patients at one stage. Otherwise, their education will remain incomplete. So, we have decided to resume in-person classes," Zahid Maleque said following a meeting at the ministry.
For this purpose all teachers and students have been vaccinated already, he said.
He also informed there are around 1.5 lakh students in different medical and dental colleges and technical institutions across the country.
About other educational institutions, the minister said, there will be an inter-ministerial meeting in this regard later. "There is a consideration for reopening all educational institutions after inoculating all students," he said.
In that case, the government is considering to inoculate students below 18 years with Covid-19 vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna.
Due to the spread of Covid-19, all schools, colleges and universities have remained closed since March 17 last year, which has been extended to September 11.
