UIU academic to lead Asia-Oceania body for 2025–2028; vows to promote Bangladesh’s role in global medical physics

Professor Dr Hasin Anupama Azhari, a renowned Bangladeshi medical physicist, has been elected president of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP) for the 2025–2028 term.

Dr Azhari currently serves as director of the Centre for Biomedical Science and Engineering at United International University (UIU).

Reflecting on her achievement, Dr Azhari said, "This role is not just an honour -- it's an opportunity to elevate Bangladesh's expertise in medical physics globally and to strengthen cancer care through modern technology, skilled professionals, and international collaboration."

She also serves as the CEO of the South Asia Centre for Medical Physics and Cancer Research (SCMPCR) and has collaborated with the Ministry of Health to establish the official "Medical Physicist" position at the national level.
