Court sentences man to death for murdering pregnant wife in Kurigram

A Kurigram court today sentenced a man to death in a case filed for murdering his pregnant wife over dowry on May 17, 2011.

Kurigram District and Sessions Court Judge Abdul Mannan gave the verdict in absence of the convict, reports our local correspondent quoting Public Prosecutor (PP) Abraham Lincoln.

The convict Rasel Islam Babu strangled his wife Pinki Khatun Shilpi (22) to death at her father's house in Nakharganj Bazar area under ​​Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram. He has been absconding since the murder.  

Rasel used to put pressure on and often torture Pinki for dowry, said the case statement.
