The High Court today directed the authorities concerned to arrest a man who filed a bail petition seeking bail for the alleged murderer of his son who was killed in Sylhet's Beanibazar last year.

The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman directed Beanibazar Police Station to arrest Khasru Miah, the father of the deceased four-year-old Sohel and lodge a complaint against him under relevant sections of the law for trying to save the alleged killer of his son.

Sohel was strangled to death on June 7 last year, after he caught his aunt Surma Begum and one Nahidul Islam Ibrahim in a compromised state at her house.

Both Nahidul and Surma were arrested and Surma already gave a confessional statement to the magistrate over the murder, in a case filed by Khasru against the duo.

However, on December 15 last year, Khasru, submitted a bail petition and a statement to a Sylhet court in favour of Nahidul, but the court rejected the petition, Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star.

Nahidul's lawyer placed a copy of the statement to the High Court and sought bail.
