Human trafficking in Libya: SC halts HC bail of 4 accused
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today halted the High Court bail for four accused in two separate cases filed over the killing of 26 Bangladeshis in Libya in May last year.
The four accused are Flyover Tours and Travels Ltd owners Sheikh Md Mahbubur Rahman, Sheikh Shahidur Rahman, Kauser Munshi and Mahbub Munshi.
The cases were filed with Paltan Police Station against the accused for their alleged involvement with trafficking a number of people to Libya, including the 26 who were killed on May 28, 2020.
Later on, the HC following separate bail petitions granted permanent bail to Mahbubur and Shahidur and granted ad-interim bail to Kauser and Mahbub in connection the cases.
The state recently filed three separate petitions with the Appellate Division challenging the HC verdict and orders.
Today, an Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order against HC verdict and orders, Deputy Attorney General Bishwajit Debnath told The Daily Star.
