A man was sentenced to life term imprisonment today for raping his 13-year-old in the capital's Badda in May 2019.
Judge Mosammat Quamrunnahar of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 of Dhaka handed down the verdict in presence of the lone accused, Afroza Farhana Ahmed, the special public prosecutor told The Daily Star.

The judge said the prosecution was able to prove the charges against the accused beyond doubt, and the accused should be sentenced to imprisonment until death, but he was sentenced to life term imprisonment to give him a chance to correct himself considering his young age.
"A father is a safe refuge for his children. Where will the child go if he is harmful?" the judge observed.
According to the case documents, the man rented a house in Badda where on May 4 and 5 of 2019, he raped his daughter.
