Two get death penalty for killing Khulna college teacher

A Khulna court sentenced two accused to death today for killing a teacher of Shahid Abul Kashem Degree College in 2017.

Khulna Public Safety Disturbance Crime Prevention Tribunal Judge Saifuzzaman announced the verdict around noon today, the tribunal's bench assistant Murad Hossain told our Khulna correspondent.

The tribunal also acquitted eight others as charges brought against them could not be proved.

The convicts are: Raju Munshi alias Gaal Kata Raju and Tuhin Gazi; Raju Munshi remains absconding.

According to sources and case statement, police recovered Chittaranjan Bain's body from his home at Amtala in Khulna's Sher-e-Bangla Road area on January 14, 2017.

He was a lecturer at the English department of Shahid Abul Kashem Degree College.

The victim's brother Subal Bain filed the murder case on January 16 of the same year.
