Two new additional attorney generals appointed

President Md Abdul Hamid today appointed two additional attorney generals in order to move cases on behalf of the state before the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court.

President Md Abdul Hamid today appointed two additional attorney generals in order to move cases on behalf of the state before the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court.

The new additional attorney generals are Supreme Court lawyers Barrister Md Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury and Advocate Sheikh Mohammad Morshed, Law Minister Anisul Huq told The Daily Star.

He hoped that the new additional attorney generals will properly serve the state by their professional competence, skill and expertise.

Two posts of additional attorney general had been vacant for more than three months after the then additional attorney generals Murad Reza and Momtaz Uddin Fakir resigned from the posts on October 11 last year.

They resigned citing personal difficulties, three days after the appointment of AM Amin Uddin as attorney general of the state.

At present, there are the attorney general, one additional attorney general, 65 deputy attorney generals and 151 assistant attorney generals for moving cases on behalf of the state before the Supreme Court.
