Verdict in ICT case against journalist Probir Sikdar on April 1

Judgment in the case filed against journalist Probir Sikdar under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, 2006 will be delivered on April 1.

After conclusion of arguments, Judge Mohammad Ash Sams Joglul Hossain of the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal set the date today.

During today's hearing, the prosecution told the court that they were able to prove the charges against the accused beyond doubt and sought highest punishment for the accused.

The defence told the court that the prosecution had failed to prove charges against their client and sought his acquittal.

Earlier, the tribunal recorded statements of 10 prosecution witnesses including complainant of the case.

Police pressed charges against Probir on March 16, 2016 while the tribunal framed charges against him on August 4 the same year.
