A 2km-long line of light vehicles was seen waiting at the ghat at 9:00 am today.

Passenger rush for launch journey also increased in the morning, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Deputy General Manager (Commerce) of Aricha Regional Office Shah Md Khaled Nawaz told The Daily Star.

While visiting the Paturia ghat around 8:30 am, Abdullah Al Amin, a journalist of The Daily Star, found that although the pressure of vehicles at the ghat has increased the operations were normal.

He said, "People are mostly taking the launch to cross the river. So, there is no pressure for ferry services."

BIWTC's Deputy General Manager (Commerce) of Aricha Regional Office Shah Md Khaled Nawaz told The Daily Star, "21 ferries are operating on the Paturia-Daulatdia route.

The movement of goods-laden trucks is closed for the smooth journey of the Eid holidaymakers, he added.
