Tourism ban in Bandarban extended till Nov 8

This information was given in a public notice signed by Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parvin Tibriji today (November 4, 2022), reports our Bandarban correspondent.

Tourists are being banned from travelling to Rowangchhari, Ruma, Thanchi, and Alikadam in Bandarban due to security reasons. This is the fourth time the public notice has been issued.

In the public notice,  the DC said the ban on travel to four upazilas issued on October 30 has been extended till November 8 in the light of a letter from the Bandarban Army Regional Headquarters on November 3.

Considering public interest and security issues, the travel ban will be applicable for domestic and foreign tourists trying to visit Ruma, Thanchi, Rowangchhari, and Alikadam upazilas, read the notice.

On October 17, tourists were initially banned from travelling to Rowangchhari and Ruma upazilas. In the second phase on October 23 and the third time on October 30, a public notice was issued banning travel to Thanchi and Alikadam upazilas, alongside the other two upazilas. The ban imposed in the third phase expired today.
