Abak
Abak or a surprising revelation is basically about a frustrated young man whose life revolved around the simple and real truth concerning the survival of the fittest in society. According to him, to stay 'fit' and survive in this world both economically and socially, one has to forgo his good habits and own up to the dark side of the whole social system.
Shujon's father, played by the eminent Abdullah Al Mamun, is a cashier in a well to do company, and is admired by everyone because of his straightforward honesty and courage. However Shujon, who cares less for these mere human characteristics, has his usual conflicts with his parents who try hard to make him understand the importance of education and simple society etiquette. When Shujon's father commits suicide at the hospital on account of being a police suspect in a case where the company's money gets mugged, Shujon is convinced with his notions about the two-faced society and decides to become a swindle so as to earn money and a place in society. In the end however, Shumon goes to his mother, played by Ferdousi Majumdar, and tearfully admits that it is truly thorny and difficult to face society all alone, and eventually the good does take over the evil.
This kind of a story might seem like the same, old and the typical stories we usually watch on television in this country, but it surely captures the mind of the viewer. At one point or the other, the characters do make the viewers nod with agreement or tearfully speculate the bizarre happenings in society.
