All those debutantes!
How do the debutantes feel to have worked for the big screen? Here are a few comments from some of them
Anisul Haque, Scriptwriter: To me it is a challenge, to bring back the audience of all classes to the cinema hall. Cinema is the greatest source of entertainment, and once upon a time there was a tradition among the people of our country to go to the theatre with the entire family. As a born-optimist, I dream to bring that tradition back again by making good movies. There are many film activists like Tareque Masud, Saidul Anam Tutul, Tanvir Mokammel and many others who also share the same objective in this regard. I believe our work will encourage those who are already in the industry and want to make good movies.
Ilora Gahor, Actress: Although I worked in Shurja Dighal Bari by Sheikh Niyamat Ali as a child artist, in Bachelor this role for me is that as an adult. The two films are totally different, but I'm happy that I have worked in two good films. In Bachelor, I have enjoyed a lot of independence in acting, dialogue and make up. I have come back to acting after a long gap of eighteen-years and became amazed to see the artistes of the new generation--they are doing so well that I sometimes feel afraid whether I can perform like them or not. If I get offers from good producers and directors, like Bachelor, I will definitely work in films.
Aupee Karim, Actress: I was very much worried about the difference between the two media [TV and film]--how will I feel performing in films, what will be the reaction of the audience? The viewers are different here. I had to act very carefully of course. And about acting in commercial films, I will not say 'no' if the offers come from like-minded makers like Farooki or Selim Al Deen and others. My opinion is that every artiste should act at least in one film, as it is a 'permanent' media while drama is not.
Sanjeeb Chowdhury, Singer: Film is a very strong medium to reach the larger audience as long as performing music is concerned. But the present condition of our cinema has almost made it impossible for band-groups like Dalchhut to playback. Working with Farooki, however, is a special experience: it has provided us great pleasure--pleasure of creativity. We have faith on him that he will not make trash films like many others. And Dalchhut will certainly continue in the cinema if the offer comes from someone like Farooki.
Joya Masood, Actress: I have appeared in the movie in a small role and for the well-coordinated efforts I didn't feel any difference with acting in TV. I have enjoyed working with the whole team and my co-actor. As regards being regular in film I must say that I love acting but, of course, not in those so-called films.
Hasan Masood, Actor: I never thought of acting before. And it felt just like a miracle in my life when I got the offer. I agreed to work as the team was a well known one. No, I don't want to be regular in acting--I don't have that option because of my profession. But if I get offers of good films and can manage time, I might give it a second thought.
Sumaya Shimu, Actress: I'm a guest artiste in this film and the feeling is great! I am personally very much interested in acting in film and of course in good films like Bachelor. I'm sure it will be a good film.
Moutushi Bishwash, Actress: When Farooki offered me the role I agreed without giving a second thought. I trust the team completely and I have faith on them that they will definitely do a good job, and no doubt they have. I believe in acting whatever the media is. Film, however, has its own characteristics that might not suit me. I'm in the final semester of my study and am planning for a job afterwards: I don't think film is my cup of tea. But if I get a chance in good films like Bachelor, I'll surely work.
