Shabnoor and Shakib in the film Praner Manush
Recently while attending a press show of a Bangla feature filmPraner Manushat the Zahir Raihan Colour Lab of the FDC, I was mentally prepared for something, awful, filled with sexual obscenity and violence.. At the back of my mind one thing that consoled me was the director of this movie was Amjad Hossain, who is a renowned filmmaker.

As I listened to the speakers of the meeting, it was more evident that the present situation in Bangla movies was quite alarming. Those who attended the meeting were highly concerned with the industry, and were anxious to find out a way to get rid from such situation created by a handful of corrupt people. After the press-show, however, the guests seemed to enjoy the movie and were hopeful of the revival of the golden legacy of the industry.

The most remarkable aspect of the film is that through it Amjad Hossain has come back once again as director after a long six-year self-exile. In his welcome speech he regretted for the present situation of the film industry and said there is no working environment here so that one can make films for neat family entertainment. He however said, 'I don't want to keep myself away from the creative world; that is why I am back again.'

One of the most successful film directors of a number of movies starting from Golapi Akhon Trainey, Bhat Dey, Nayanmoni, Sundori, Dui Paisar Alta and many other award winning movies were created by Amjad Hossain which provided the middle class spectators with pure entertainment.

His latest film Praner Manush is based on a story of friendship between two friends Avik (Ferdous) and Raj (Shakib Khan), and their love for a common friend Smrity (Shabnoor). The story comes to the climax when Smrity starts to deceive both of them. Suspicion inevitably occurs between the two friends. Finally, however, they realise their misunderstandings but it is too late then. One will have to wait until the last scene to learn what actually happens between them, and this aspect of the film remarkably makes the movie interesting.

All the performers of the movie have acted so naturally that it would be the answer to those people who always blame that there is scarcity of talents in the industry. After watching this film one would rather say that there is lack of fortes to make the best use of the talents scattered around us.

The movie is releasing today.
