Asad turns 50

With colourful masks in the background, the stage decorated with red-orange-yellow curtains and fresh flowers, a portrait of Raisul Islam Asad was kept upon a stand at the corner of the stage. Well wishers of Asad signed their names and wished him luck, who recently turned 50 on July 15.. Dhaka Theatre threw a Birthday celebration of actor Raisul Islam Asad a freedom fighter and founder member of Dhaka Theatre at the Shilpakala Academy.

Asad's mother and Nasiruddin Yusuf gave the actor a Uttaria (shawl). On behalf of the Dhaka Theatre and Gram Theatre a Maanpatra (citation) written by the playwright Salim Al-Din, was dedicated to Asad.

The actors of Dhaka Theatre, Abhinaya Shilpi Shangha, Jahangirnagar University, Nagorik Natya Shamprodaya, Mahakal Natya Shamprodaya and other organisations gave flowers to the actor on his Birthday.

Among others Ramendu Majumdar, Golam Kuddus, Ataul Huque.Murshedul Islam, Poet Hassan Hafiz, Leenu Billah, Apurba Majumdar, Ahsanul Haque Minu, Sallauddin Zaki and others also spoke at the occasion. Later on in the programme, Mita Haque, Shubir Nandi and Shimul Yusuf performed songs.
