Audio visual narratives of Liberation War

Running commentary, songs on Liberation War, rare photographs and documents have been used to recount history in the presentation. In the attractive state of the art facility, even individuals not fully conversant with computer technology can access the system through touch screen monitor. The museum authorities hope that interest will be generated in learning more about different events and aspects of the Liberation War. The project has been financed by US Alumni Grant. The facilities will be open during museum hours.

The software has been developed with various options like Genocide, Refugee, Bangladesh Government, Liberation Army, Pakistan army and local collaborators, International dimension, Non-resident Bangladeshi, Women in Liberation War, Role of cultural activists and role of media; interested individuals can easily access one or more aspects of Liberation War. Through the audio-visual system, the entire history of the Independence struggle can be accessed in two hours.

Aly Zaker and Dr Sarwar Ali, trustees of Liberation War Museum and Jonathan Sebra, director of The American Centre spoke on the occasion.

A musical soiree followed the speeches. Aditi Muhsin rendered Tagore songs Amra milechhi aj mayer dakey, Tomari porey ma shopinu e deho, Nibiro ghono adhare jolitechhe drubotara, Ebar tor mora gangey baan esechhe and Sharthok janam amar jonmechhi ei deshe. Khairul Anam Shakil rendered Jago anoshon bondi, Eka mor gaaner tori, Jaha kichhu momo, Bhoria poran sunitechhi gaan and Mrityu nai nai dukkho.

The day's programme ended with a group dance performance by artistes of Nrityanandan, directed by Sharmila Bandyopadhyay.
