Commenting on the play Shamsul Alam Bakul, the director of the play says, "The story develops through the tragic ending of a young man, who is the keeper of a tiger. However, the play also has a powerful message, which symbolically represents the massacre by the Pakistani military regime in 1971 as well as the condition of contemporary politics."

Bakul has incorporated some indigenous performing art forms such as ghetu pala and others. Bakul says, "The original ghetu pala form is not available in the country. That is why I had to work hard. I invited a few artistes from Mymensingh region who still stage a modified version of the indigenous performing art form. However, the problem is that the present form, which they stage, is full of vulgarity. That is why I have used a polished version of the ghetu pala in the play, while maintaining the authenticity of the tune as well as the body movements of the form."

Enamul Karim Nirjhar, the stage designer of the play, said, "My set for the play is totally suggestive. I have created different environments on the stage by blending folk and traditional forms."

Nasirul Haque Khokon is the light designer of the play.

Desh Natok will stage the premiere show of their latest production Baghal in the first week of December at the Experimental Theatre Stage.
