Esho hey Baishakh, esho esho: That is how Rabindranath Tagore's song ushers in the Bangla New Year. Traditionally the Bangalees welcome the New Year onPahela Baishakwith this song. A symbol of Bangalee nationalism and identity, the day is celebrated with gaiety. Several organisations such as Chhayanaut, Institute of Fine Arts, Bangla Academy, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the National Press Club have organised special programmes to mark the day.

Channel-i will telecast the Pahela Baishakh celebrations live from the different venues.
