Beckett's play in Bangla

Waiting for Godot is one of the most remarkable examples of the Theatre of Absurd. In the evolution of a new vision of mankind in relation to his environment and the universe, one may expect to see a large number influences. Clearly, the idea that man is absurd is by no means new. Fundamentally, human beings are struggling with the irrationality of experience, in a state of what has been described as 'metaphysical anguish'.
The translation of this play is quite difficult. As the eternal frustration, emptiness, weariness, absurd dreams and hope are within us from the beginning of the civilization, so the play has no limitation of time and place. Emptiness, hopeless waiting, stream of words, eternal weariness, childish farces--these are the main aspects of the play. According to, Samuel Beckett, the playwright, this is the reality for any time and place.
The set designing and lighting are logically very simple but effective, to suggest that indefinite time and place. There is only a tree, few dry leaves and small semi-oval shaped high space on the stage. The costume designing and props are realistic. Coordinated sound effects have been used.
Among the four characters Nahida, Tania, Farida and Shiblee, Tania's performance was good. Her voice modulation, relevant expression and spontaneous movements are entertaining. Nahida and Farida have also acted well. However, in his first appearance, Shiblee seems to be a little bit nervous and tends to fumble.
The aim of this department is to bridge the east and the west in the world of drama and at the same time to create talented theater workers.
