Bengal's talent hunt in Mymensingh
At a recent press conference in Mymensingh, organised by Bengal Foundation regarding it's ongoing talent hunt, eminent artistes laid emphasis on the need to preserve the rich heritage of Bangladesh's traditional music. As eminent painter Professor Qayyum Chowdhury pointed out, "The vigorous flow of current trend of music has endangered our traditional music. We need to begin a concerted effort to revive the old heritage of Bangla songs." Chowdhury complimented Bengal Foundation for promoting new talent.
According to Abdul Hasnat, executive editor of the monthly Kali Kalam, the Foundation had done stellar work by releasing 80 CDs and cassettes of creative Bangla songs, including a long play of Rabindra Sangeet.
