Black, beauteous and brave
All the three members are confident that their pictures, will appeal to the viewers at the Alliance Francaise and the Zainul Gallery, where the display is being presented in two different parts. They have exhibited before, as at Drik, and are sure that their pieces which comprise of portraits, nature, still life and purely aesthetic and near abstract creations, will draw a sea of visitors, and hopefully some buyers -- who can help promote the fund drive. Runi and Antara take part in the singing and dancing at Chayanaut and so are motivated to go into this venture of black and white and some coloured compositions.
The participants of the exhibit, carry their cameras while they go to study at the campus and before the classes at DU begin, they have their photograph snapping sessions in and around the periphery of Dhaka city. They go to the Hill Tracts and other adjacent localities as well as the Sundarbans. They pick scenic sights and often amalgamate human figures with nature of urban and village scenes. They prefer to compose in black and white and sombre colours as they feel that is more poetic and dramatic.

The young photographers have been inspired by Rhagu Rai, Shahidul Alam and Anwar Hossain, the photographers of MAP, like Chandan; along with other senior photographic experts like Noazesh Ahmed. They sometimes carry out-of-fashion cameras so as to get the decades old vision, which, to connoisseurs appear more aesthetic. True, their photography is still a passion rather than their profession. Yet, some of them, like Antara and Eiffel, may take up photography in a bigger way in future. Their families are culturally inclined and have never discouraged them in their drive for photography. The fact that onlookers are pleased with their work, as they constantly go about the rain, heat and swarm of flies -- the eager photographers go about their work burning with zeal and high morale. They are, moreover encouraged by personalities like Mostafa Manwar and Waheedul Haque, the former being the chief guest at the opening, and the latter egging them on whenever they meet him at Chayanaut or elsewhere, socially.
Examining the photos at the Zoom Gallery, Alliance Francaise, move the viewers, and compel them to stay on to "stand and stare", and even buy some of the entries for the good cause.
