Bombay Dreams

The year-long closure in London does not mark the end of this popular show. Starting from April 29, the action has shifted to Broadway in the US. The new version is said to be slicker, racier and have high quality production values. Theatre personalities and critics tend to believe the Broadway version is far superior to the show in London.
The plot of Bombay Dreams is set against the backdrop of the busy Indian movie industry of Bollywood and combines romantic fantasy with reality. The protagonist is a young man in search of stardom in Mumbai's film industry. Aspiring to rise from his humble beginnings as a slum dweller, he falls in love with the daughter of an Indian movie moghul. The rest of the show centres on whether his personal and professional dreams will find fulfillment.
The creators of Bombay Dreams are the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber and Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor. The music is courtesy AR Rahman who adds to his impressive credentials as a composer in over 50 Bollywood movies.
