In view of public demand, taste and need, BTV has re-scheduled its current programmes. In a recent press briefing, Nasimul Ghani, director general, BTV, said that as the only terrestrial channel in the country, BTV has introduced Target Audience Focused Transmission (TAFT) system from August 17. In doing so, BTV hopes to generate more audience interest. He added that the reason for this initiative is that people from different demographic groups watch TV at different times.

Research has been done to categorise the viewers and to determine the schedule of the programmes according to their taste. In-house training and monitoring, workshop with eminent producers, a study circle, workshops for newscasters, training of camera crew and set designers are also in progress, Ghani said.

The DG also said that BTV will be introducing several new programmes on agriculture in SAARC countries, talk shows, musical programmes, global cinema and sports-based programmes from this month.
