ByDeshi comes to town

One of the high points of the show was apparel fashioned out of jute fabric, demonstrating a rare use of this fibre in a clothing range in Bangladesh. The bridal range stole the show with a bride appearing in a palki, wearing an exquisitely made pink jamdani with patti and zardosi work.

The grand finale was the bride and groom in an all white jamdani sari and sherwani, studded with fresh water pearls and rhinestones--the first of its kind in Bangladesh. The clothing range included muslins, jamdanis and crepe--all of which had embroidery, applique, crochet and even semi-precious stones. ByDeshi took the tribal weave one step further by giving a trendy look with Bangla script worn with denim.

The team behind ByDeshi are: Tootli Rahman, well-known for her event management and wedding decorations and Shakeel A Khan, a specialist on shoes and bags, linked with international designers brands.
