Celebrating "Francophonie"

The celebrations began with dance and dinner at the Canadian Club. March 18, was the inauguration of "The Walls of Dhaka", an exposition by the French artist Bruno Ruhf who has been travelling through the city since last year. Ruhf took many mind-boggling photos of the city walls of Dhaka and their contents like the graffiti on them. He combines art and photography to give images of the city's lighter side, that resonates with colours and a human touch. The display at the Alliance Francaise will be on till March 31.

Following the opening of the art exhibition was a magic show by the visiting magician Benoit Rosemont. Today there will be sports like scrabble, table-tennis, football and volleyball. There is also a creative writing competition. This is followed by a children's workshop on art and a quiz programme. From March 18 to 29 is a display of books on member countries of "Francophonie" and an informative exhibition on "Francophonie".
