A celebration of colour
Inaugurated by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh, Oleg S Malginov, the opening ceremony was attended by renowned artists Rafiqun Nabi, Nasrin Begum and sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan.
The exhibits include mostly watercolour and oil paintings as well as a few acrylic works and stoneware items. The glass paintings of Farhana Rahman Shawpna are, however, a new item at the exhibition since the medium is not very familiar in the country. Shawpna's works basically depict graphical illustration-type works. Artistic works would have more fitted the exhibition.

Farida Yesmin's acrylic works reflect the characteristics of her recent experimentation also seen in her ongoing solo exhibition at the Zainul Gallery. Her Storm-Tossed depicts the restlessness of the mind through the arbitrary use of deep colours like blue and red with thick brush strokes.
Mohammad Mahadi Masud's stoneware pieces are eye-catching. The works of Tasnuva Rahman and Dilshad Pathan have the dreamy effect created in well-controlled watercolour. Other participants of the exhibition are Shama Shaiom, Tahmina Hafiz, Shantana Mannan and Sadia Hussain Ether.
Established in 1990, CEDO has been arranging such exhibitions since 2002 in order to bring the young painters to the notice of lovers and critics of art. Kamrul Islam Nadim, founder of CEDO, participated in the previous four exhibitions.
The display runs until October 20.
