Central Shaheed Minar turns festive

The programme included dances by Khela Ghor Ashor and a play by Kanon Children's Theatre on the second day. The festival also showcased several songs by solo artistes Fakir Alamgir, Moloy Kumar Ganguli, Laisa Ahmed Lisa and Mahbubul Haider among others. The poetry recitals of Rezina Lina, and Iqbal Khurshid touched a responsive chord in the audience.

The second part of the programme included two plays, Borno chora from Moitri theatre, written by Momotaj Uuddin Ahmed and Mr Dengu from Ontorongo theatre, written by Aminul Islam. The programme was hosted by member secretary of Ujjapon Committee Maskur A Sattar.

Similar activities by Sommilito Sangskritik Jote have been organised since 1985. The organisation consists of around 350 sister organisations in Dhaka city and over 3,500 all over the country.

The programme mirrored our rich Bangalee heritage and should go a long way in drawing the younger generations into the cultural fold.
