Among the few organisations in the country that operate training programmes for young theatre enthusiasts, Peoples Theatre Institute (PTI) is significant. It is a sister concern of Peoples Theatre Association (PTA). The former offers a one-year certificate course for children's theatre. On July 8, at Mahila Samity Stage, PTI arranged a certificate giving ceremony amongst the successful trainees.

The certificate giving ceremony was followed by the staging of two plays -- Biswa Bina and Banglar Mukh -- by the children who participated in the course.

Biswa Bina, a musical play compiled and directed by Secretary General of PTA, Liaquat Ali Lucky, is the collection of world famous children's songs. The students of PTI presented a commendable rendering of songs on peace and harmony.

Subsequently, they staged Banglar Mukh dramatised and directed by Lucky. This play captured our glorious heritage and rebellious past.

Lucky then distributed the certificates to the participants. Speaking on the plus points of children's theatre, Lucky said, "Theatre practice is helpful for the development of children. Besides offering entertainment, theatre can be a very effective learning tool. I firmly believe that theatre practice can be introduced at the school level as part of co-curricular activities. PTI's aim is to involve all the students of the country in theatre practice."
