Che-r Cycle: A moving performance

The audience was enraptured with the play's theme and the talented performers. Renowned theatre personality in Bangladesh Mamunur Rashid wrote Che-r Cycle based on the failure and success of Che Guevara in his attempt to shake off all imperialistic control and oppression. As the curtain reopened after the drama, Mamunur Rashid told the audience that Aranyak had staged Che-r Cycle in Dhaka, Chittagong, Jessore, and Rangpur and has plans to stage it in all districts in the country.

Che Guevara's views, says Rashid, are relevant to the contemporary world and age of globalisation. The story of the play centres around Che Guevara's commitment to the revolution for internationalism against new colonialism. In the play, Che Guevara has been represented as a revolutionary voice in favour of the oppressed of Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and many Asian and African countries.

Mamunur Rashid played the role of Che, while Rubli Chowdhury played Kortesh and Chanchol Chowdhury enacted several characters. Their superb performance entranced the audience.

Mukul Mostafiz, president of Sarothi Nattaya Samprodai, said that the audience identified themselves strongly with the character of the plays's antagonist. His fight against all odds during the post nationalism era, said Mostafiz, was akin to the situation that confronts us today.
