Children drama festival kicks off

This time, they have arranged a 14-day long children drama festival, which starts from today at Public Library Auditorium. This is the sixth such function of the organisation.

65 children theatre troupes from all across the country will stage plays in the festival. Secretary General of PTA, Liaquat Ali Lucky said, " It is the biggest festival ever in the history of Bangladesh. About 1000 children from different corners of the country will gather in the festival. PTA has successfully popularised children drama trend in Bangladesh. And several sister troupes of PTA have participated in different international theatre festivals."

"Earlier, we had arranged five children drama festivals in 1995, 97, 99, 2001 and 2002. But, in this year's festival, children artistes and organisers from different parts of the country will get the chance to exchange thoughts, which will promote children's drama. PTA will sponsor the groups which will come from outside Dhaka," added Lucky.

Poet Shamsur Rahman will inaugurate the festival today at 10 a.m. President of International Theatre Institute Bangladesh Branch, Ramendu Majumdar is the special guest of the festival. Moreover, Professor Syed Manzurul Islam and SM Mohsin will also be present in the opening ceremony today.
