Classical music at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy

Instrumentalists perform at the event

Ten renowned instrument players of the country played several ragas on instruments such as tabla, sitar, sarod, violin, santoor and bansi.

The programme began with a group tabla presentation by Srijon. Syed Meher Hossain, the lead player, composed the Brinda (group presentation). AFM Ekram Hossain's esraj provided the base while the tabla players improvised on the melody of esraj.

Later M Chan Miah played raga durga on the violin. The third presentation of the evening was a sitar recital by Reenat Fawzia. She played raga hem-behag, a fusion of hem and behag.

Alauddin Miah and M Nuruzza-man presented a duet on violin. The duo played raga malkosh.

Later Firoz Khan presented raga misra pilu on sitar. Noted bansi player Abdul Bari Siddqui improvised on raga malaiya maruthom.

With the western instrument saxophone, M Maniruzzaman played a raga hangso dhwoni at the soiree.

Syed Sajid presented lahora on tabla, while Shantanu Salahuddin played raga puria dhanesree on santoor.

The final event of the evening was an improvisation on raga desh presentation by Shahadat Hossain Khan and his troupe on sarod.
