Auditions for the popular talent huntCloseUp 1were held at Hotel Amir International on August 8. A total of 1125 young contestants from Mymensingh region (Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Kishoreganj and Tangail) registered for the competition while 878 took part in the first round of audition in two sessions. A total of 23 aspiring singers passed the first round to face the final selection on August 9 for 'yes cards' to go forward for the next round scheduled to be held in Dhaka.

Ten judges in five groups selected the 23 contestants. The judges are singer Agun, music composer Emon Saha, Pronob Ghosh, Shujeo Shyam, Anup Bhattacharya and others. Artistes Kumar Biswajit, Ahmed Emtiaz Bulbul and Fahmida Nabi judged the selection round.

It may be mentioned that the winner and first runner up of last year's CloseUp 1 -- Nolok Babu and Razib respectively, are from Jamalpur district and received their 'yes cards' from the same venue. Nolok attended the function on August 8 and encouraged the young singers with his songs during the break.
