Clowns without borders back in Bangladesh

All in all, 30 performances were given in Chittagong, Dhaka and Jessore for more than 11, 000 people.

This December 2006, the 'Clowns' are back in Bangladesh. The artistes have been performing since the beginning of this month. The performances will continue till December 23, says a press release. Their aim is to bring moments of joy and festivity to the deprived children of Dhaka and Chittagong, but also in the char area around Sirajganj.This third visit of the Clowns is organised at the request of many organisations involved in children rehabilitation projects or in cultural projects such as Terre des Hommes Italy, Save the Children UK and Sweden, Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts (BITA) and Community Development Centre (CODEC).

In Dhaka, they will organise a workshop with children involved in theatre groups with Save the Children. Another workshop will be organised with Terre des Hommes Italy, Aparajeyo and Arban with the teachers and educators working in the slums. Six children to be selected from these workshops will go along with the 'Clown Without Borders' to the char areas to perform with the French artistic team.

Around Sirajganj, they will perform in "Chow Hali" area, in favour of the chars populations. The child participants of the workshop in Dhaka will join the team and perform with the French artistes.

In Chittagong, the artists will perform in the villages around Shitakunda and Chandeneish, in collaboration with CODEC. They will also visit an orphanage for girls (Prabartak Samgha) in Chittagong.
