Concert for a cause

The packed auditorium had a band line-up comprising big names such as Nagar Baul, Warfaze and under grounders Ajob, dNA, Aashor, Arbovirus, Reborn and Triloy.
Then the moment appeared--the groups came on to an enthusiastic welcome and started with the best live versions of their own compositions and covers.
Triloy's Smells like teen spirit by Nirvana signalled the start of the show, which had the audience singing along. They performed interesting songs wowing the listeners. Next to follow were Ajob and Arbovirus--two slower songs by the folk-fusion Ajob and then couple of Nu-metal tracks by the next group kept up the lively pace and it was clear to all that the crowd was really enjoying itself at the concert.
The sound of energetic drums, heavy guitar riffs and leads with enchanting vocals of dNA, Reborn and Aashor complemented the performance. While dNA generated life with their Linkin Park cover of One step closer, Reborn made a knock out presentation with Pearl Jam's Jeremy along with few Metallica numbers and Aashor singing their famous track Shunno--it was electrifying!
Next was Warfaze, performing second last. Their set list kicked off with a burst of adrenaline as the band moved ahead. With stunning improvisation, the band performed songs like Ekti Cheley, churning out high energy. The overjoyed crowd were seen jumping to see this popular band.
In the end, it was James with his band Nagar Baul. The Guru titled music icon performed his series of hits and kept the audience on their toes. Songs like Sultana bibiana and many more were hugely applauded. The jazzy guitars and some very entertaining drum playing by Funty captivated the audience. The version of Mirabai--the song, they played, was amazing. The addition of instruments like the dhol and saxophone added extra flavor to their staging. With lights beaming and crowds chanting, it was a rock and roll environment.
At one point of the show, there was a small presentation on ASHIC Foundation and a few cancer affected kids were brought on to the dais. The kids were asked to say a few things and the auditorium roared in response.
NSU SSC depends on the goodwill of a very large number of volunteers. The NSU students provided the core of audiences for the charity concert. NSU SSC has over the years helped numerous social projects to change lives. The ASHIC Foundation chairperson Salma Choudhury gratefully acknowledged this support.
