Convention on Tagore held in Comilla

The programme began with the theme song, Shubho kormopothey dhoro nirbhoye gaan. Veteran Tagore artiste Bilquis Nasiruddin inaugurated the programme as singers rendered Aguner poroshmoni chhowaon praney in a chorus.

Central general secretary of Rabindra Sangeet Shammilon Parisad (RSSP) -- Bulbul Chowdhury, central president of the Parisad -- Wahidul Haque, president of the organisation’s Comilla branch -- Shantanu Kaisar and general secretary -- Professor Samir Majumdar spoke on the occasion. Professor Safi Ahmed of Jahangirnagar University later elaborated on the works of Tagore.

Around 30 participants in 48 categories took part in the three-day long convention. The second day of the programme was held at the town hall auditorium. Artistes from Gazipur, Tangail, Sirajganj, and Chandpur participated in the programme.

On the last day of the programme, the members of RSSP brought out a colourful rally from the town hall, and paid homage at the Comilla Central Shaheed Minar. Rabi Roshmi Padok was handed over to the winners. The programme was followed by renditions of inspiring songs such as Shurer guru daogo shurer dikkha and Kanna hashir doldolano. Noted artistes Mita Haq, Laisa Ahmed Lisa, Sharmin Shathi Islam, Elora Ahmed Shukla and others from different districts performed at the event.
