Cox's Bazar: A new theatre venue

On December 18, at Cox's Bazar sea beach, Liaquat Ali Lucky, the General Secretary of PTA, inaugurated their new programme for the tourists. ADC of Cox's Bazar district was also present at the opening ceremony. People's Little Theatre (PLT), an associate group of PTA, staged Banglar Mukh in the open air.

Later, the organisers invited the tourists to watch two plays: Tasher Desh and Shiddhi Data staged by PLT and Loko Natya Dal respectively at Cox's Bazar Cultural Centre.

Liaquat said, 'On Fridays, we plan to present cultural events at two venues-- Public Library Auditorium and Cultural Centre Auditorium-- at Cox's Bazaar. Local groups including ethnic communities will present cultural events. Moreover, PTA will also present few cultural programmes. We are trying to get support from local hotels and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. A few local cultural groups have joined hands with us for the programme.'

All this is good news for cultural groups, always on the look out for a theatre venue.
