"Dance comes naturally to me" ---Nadia

At the age of four Nadia entered the field of dance. Recalling her childhood, dancer turned actress, Nadia says, "We went to China with a cultural troupe. The year: 1989. Here we spent one month in China and performed in 15 dance items." She fondly remembers the excitement that she shared with the children from both home and abroad.

Nadia says, "We went sightseeing, which included one of the seven wonders: the Great Wall of China."

Her basic lessons began at the Shishu Academy. A seven-year course followed at the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA). She learned Kathak under Shibli Muhammad, Bharatnatyam under Belayet Hossain Khan and Manipuri under Tamanna Rahman.

In 1990 she won the third place in acting in the Natun Kuri competition. She played Ratan in Rabindranath Tagore's Post-Master. Nadia says, "I participated in the competition sportingly without expecting any rewards."

Later, she played Boichi in Imdadul Haque Milon's Baro Rokom Manush. A year later in 1993 she acted in her first commercial for Elegant Sweater. Thereafter she took part in other commercials as well.

Looking back, Nadia says, "My first performance as a full fledged artiste was in Chhaya Kaya. For this I received the BACHSHASH award as the best debutante actress in 2002. The other plays are Marichika, Anyarokom Manushera, Britto, Bashanto Ashey Chupisharey, Nayak Nayika and Srabon Megher Din. She is currently acting in two serials: Poribar O Ekti Company and Shukhnagar Apartment.

Among Nadia's noteworthy dance dramas are Tagore's Mayar Khela, Nazrul's Roktolal Ahonkar, Amir Shawdagar O Bhelua Shundari. She has also performed in Chitrangada on BTV on Tagore's birth anniversary. Nadia is a recipient of other awards for dance such as Shanko Telefilm award and TRAB award in 2002.
