Mike Myers was inspired to create the character Mini-Me from the movie Island of Dr Moreau, where the villain, Marlon Brando, had his own little Mini-Me.

In the movie The Exorcist (1973), to achieve the frozen breath effect in Regan's room, the entire room was refrigerated. Actress Linda Blair, who wore only a thin nightgown, says she cannot stand the cold. Mercedes McCambridge, who did the voice of the demon, smoked cigarettes, ate raw eggs, and tied herself to a chair to create the anguished cry of the demon.

Author Stephen King hates both the movie and the book Carrie. Carrie was the first novel that King wrote. He had thrown the first few pages of the story in a garbage pail, but his wife rescued them and urged him to finish the work. Signet paid $400,000 for the novel's paperback rights.

In Charlie's Angels (2000), the house Drew Barrymore fell into is the same house that was used in ET, which she starred in as a child artiste. A poster of ET can be seen above the television on the wall, an obvious reference to Drew Barrymore's role in the film.

In the movie Erin Brokovich (based on a true story), during the restaurant scene where Erin (Julia Roberts) and her three children are dining, the waitress that takes their order is the real Erin Brockovich. For a bit of a joke, the name on her name tag is "Julia".
