Documentary on mystic poet Manmohan Dutta

Manmohan Dutta's devotional songs have moved the Bangalee nation for over a century now. Some of the songs have been so closely intertwined with our culture, that most people cannot distinguish them as Dutta's songs. In his short lifespan of 32 years, Dutta had written about 425 songs that are known as Malaya Sangeet.

Dutta's songs manifest humanity and secularism. His work can be categorised in seven groups: Shorbodhormo Sangeet, Swaroop Nirnaye, Shyama Sangeet, Krishna Bishoyok, Shiv Sangeet, Gawrango Leela and Musalmani.

There are 25 books by the bard in total (both published and unpublished). Among them Malaya, Pathik (1st and 2nd part), Path-er Upashona Pronalee, Yoga Pranalee, Maina Khoni, Shatyashotok, Tatwa Kaumudi, Prem Parijaat, Girija and Aradhana are remarkable. Ustaad Alauddin Khan's sibling, eminent musician Ustaad Aftabuddin Khan, composed all of Dutta's songs. Hence, the songs have the ability to take over the senses of the listener.

Manik Manobik has directed the documentary. The idea has been developed by Aly Zaker and coordinated by Sara Zaker.
